Expectations

To succeed as a Specialist Officer, you will need to demonstrate the highest levels of personal integrity and professionalism, which ASIS will continue to support both through comprehensive training and development programs.

All candidates need Australian citizenship to be eligible to apply. Additionally, you will need to demonstrate the following qualities for each role:

Operations

  • strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • excellent analytical skills, with the ability to spot trends among a range of data, and an ability to look at the big picture, while also ensuring accuracy in the detail of your analysis;
  • resourcefulness, with an innate sense of curiosity;
  • self-motivation, with exemplary judgment to assist you in making decisions when all of the relevant information isn't available; and
  • resilience and resourcefulness; to help you through the difficult and challenging situations you may sometimes find yourself in.

Technical

  • inventiveness, a willingness to experiment, and a passion for leading-edge technology;
  • expertise in communications, Information Technology and/or RF;
  • resourcefulness, with an ability to deliver to tight deadlines; and
  • self-motivation and drive, with an ability to work in diverse teams.

Corporate

  • proven expertise in your specific area of professional interest;
  • the ability to build excellent working relationships across the organisation;
  • self-motivation, with a real interest in the work of ASIS and an ability to deliver results.
