Most of these positions are based in Canberra and require strong research and analytical skills and work to support intelligence operations overseas. These roles are responsible for the validation and reporting on particular secret intelligence to Government customers. They typically focus on either particular geographic areas or on a particular global thematic issue.
As a technical-based Specialist Officer you will use technology to provide critical support to ASIS operations overseas. These positions undertake research and development of new systems that allow ASIS to enhance its intelligence collection functions. The duties range from creating completely new tools and platforms, to finding new uses for existing ‘off the shelf’ technologies.
Whether your expertise or interest is in Finance, Human Resources, Training or Corporate Policy and Governance, ASIS provides the opportunity to further these skills. ASIS offers a unique operational environment where your contribution is highly valued and your work contributes towards protecting Australia’s national interests.
To succeed as a Specialist Officer, you will need to demonstrate the highest levels of personal integrity and professionalism.
As a rough guide, the Specialist Officer selection process takes between three and six months from the date of application to the offer of employment.
