Minister

ASIS is accountable to the Minister for Foreign Affairs. The Intelligence Services Act 2001 makes explicit the role of the Minister for Foreign Affairs in directing ASIS and authorising the conduct of specific activities.

Australia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs is the Hon. Stephen Smith MP.
