I’ve been with ASIS for four months now, having joined the organisation from another government department. Although I work in HR, I know my work is indirectly contributing to the Australian national interest. I was attracted to ASIS by the prospect of contributing to an organisation that I felt really mattered. It does.

I have an extensive background in HR in both the public and private sector, but my first weeks in ASIS were like nowhere else I had been before. I have found this to be an organisation that gets things done, without the bureaucracy I have experienced in other organisations. Because having the right people in the right places is so crucial to the success of ASIS operations, the work I and others do in HR really is valued and it is seen by operational teams as vital to their success.
