Operations Officer Testimonial

Mark

I joined ASIS as an Operations Officer in 2004, working in counter-proliferation, an area that collects intelligence on the spread of nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction. My background and study is in the sciences.

Unlike some other intelligence agencies, ASIS gives you a great opportunity to be at the ‘pointy end’ of intelligence collection activities where you feel you are really making a difference. Using the intelligence we collect to prevent weapons proliferation in our region gives me a real buzz.

Having worked in other government agencies, I’ve always found that each has its own ‘feel’ and particular culture. In ASIS, I’ve found it to be a very ‘can do’ culture, with a real focus on achieving results – I guess that's unsurprising given our unique line of work.
