Information collection and distribution
We collect clickstream data in our HTTP logs. These logs are used internally to better develop the site and allow us to report on site activity.
When you visit this web site, we make a record of your visit and log the following information for statistical purposes:
the user's server address,No attempt will be made to identify users or their browsing activities except, in the unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect the Internet Service Provider's logs.
Use of your email address
We will only record your e-mail address if you send us a message. In such cases, the email address will only be used for the purpose for which it was provided and will not be added to a mailing list unless that is the purpose of the message. Other than pursuant to an investigation into a crime to which it is related, we will not disclose your e-mail address without your consent. Furthermore, we do not disclose any of your information outside the Department except in the event of an investigation or with your consent.
Rules binding persons accessing data stored on this site
The staff who operate this site and/or acess any of the data referred to above are subject to Privacy Rules issued by the Minister for Foreign Affairs pursuant to the Intelligence Services Act 2001. Any third parties who are provided access to your information with our consent will be subject to the Privacy Act 1988. In the event of an investigation into your use of this site, ASIS will take all reasonable steps to ensure the law enforcement agencies access your information comply with relevant privacy rules and legislation.
Information provided by job applicants
All applicants who apply for jobs with ASIS via this website consent to the disclosure of their information to a third party recruitment consultant ('the Consultant'). The Consultant is subject to the Privacy Act 1988 and will not disclose your information to any party other than ASIS. The Consultant will only be provided with such information as is necessary to select appropriate persons to proceed to the next stage of the recrruitment process with ASIS. The Consultant will store your information on appropriately secured servers until such time it is no longer necessary to facilitate the recruitment process and will then delete your information. ASIS will take all reasonable steps to ensure that the Consultant will handle and store the information provided securely at all times.
By applying for a position with ASIS, you also consent to ASIS notifying other members of the Australian Intelligence Community ('AIC') that you have made such an application. Members of the AIC are bound by privacy rules and principles similar to those binding ASIS.
