There are plenty of roles in ASIS which involve impactful, consequential work from office settings in Australia. Not every role requires you to be out in the field overseas. Some office-based roles in Australia also come with opportunities to work overseas if it suits your circumstances.

ASIS focuses on human intelligence collection overseas to protect Australian interests. We work alongside our partners in Australia’s National Intelligence Community.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs is responsible for ASIS, and we are also subject to oversight from the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security. Our financial accounts are audited by the Australian National Audit Office and we are subject to review by the Inspector-General of Intelligence and Security. ASIS’s functions are fully outlined in the Intelligence Services Act 2001.
