The Application Process.

Working at ASIS isn’t your average job, which means that this isn’t your average job application. For our security, and yours, we’ll need to properly examine your travel and employment history, which can take time. This also means that, to avoid disqualifying yourself, you’ll need to keep your intention to apply for ASIS discreet.

Curiosity

Online Application.

There are several stages to the online application process during which you will be asked to provide a range of information typically found in your standard curriculum vitae or resume. This process is a little more detailed than other employment application forms. It's recommended you find a space where you won't be interrupted and set aside approximately 45-60 mins to complete your application.  

Before beginning your application, we recommend you create an account to preview and print the data requested throughout the Application Form, so you can gather any missing pieces of information. In addition to your personal details, please ensure you have the following details on hand (you may wish to print a preview of the application form before you start so you can gather any missing pieces of information):

Personal.

You will be asked to supply biographical information like personal, contact and citizenship details. You may be required to upload a recent photo of yourself and your resume.

  • Digital passport sized photo (does not however need to be a professionally taken passport photo) Please smile!! 
  • Relationship/spouse details 
Education

Education and employment.

You will be asked to disclose all information related to your secondary or tertiary education. Details of your employment history are required. 
  • Education details - secondary and tertiary institutions and qualifications if applicable 
  • Resume 
  • Previous ten years of employment history- approximate dates and supervisor details

Extra curricular and foreign experience.

You will be asked to include information about extra- curricular activities, for example. volunteer work, sporting achievements, awards at university. Foreign experience includes all overseas travel, for example, holidays, study, working holidays, live/work for extended periods, deployments. You should also include details of a fluency in a foreign language.

Response

Extended reponse.

You need to address the selection criteria associated with the advertised position. You need to provide responses against specific questions while considering the competencies for the position. Where appropriate, the responses you provide should demonstrate your capability against the selection criteria in a succinct and relevant way. 
Review and submit. 

Review all sections of your application form and make sure you have accurately completed each section before submitting the application. Once you have submitted your completed online application form, you will receive an on-screen confirmation that your application has been successfully received by ASIS. Beyond this, you will only be contacted again if you progress to the next stage of the application process.  

Important note on confidentiality. 

All applications for employment with ASIS are handled in the strictest confidence. It is essential that you maintain a similar level of confidentiality and that you not discuss your application with anyone, as this could impact on your career with ASIS. If your application is successful, you’ll be able to discuss the process of telling someone of your employment with ASIS. 

Do not include any data in your application which is classified higher than the Commonwealth classification of 'IN-CONFIDENCE'. If you wish to include data in your application which is classified higher than 'IN-CONFIDENCE', please indicate in the 'Additional Comments' section of the application form that you have further classified information which you feel is relevant to the success of your application. Should ASIS determine it necessary to discuss this classified information with you, this will be done via secure means at a later stage.
