Graduate program

A 12-month learning and development program for tertiary graduates that’s your pathway to a career in secret intelligence.

Grow with on-the-job training, connect with peers and intel leaders, contribute to the growth of the Service, and make an impact on real-world intelligence operations that advance Australia’s interests.

During my program, someone told me that “ASIS is your oyster”, and it truly was the best piece of advice I received. There are so many broad and wide-ranging opportunities available that ensures you are never stagnant. It will open your eyes to a whole other world. And best of all – your work as a grad will be important, satisfying and of service to the entire Australian community.

Coming into the program as a recent uni grad, I was worried that I’d get pigeonholed into one particular area. Fortunately, because the program involved rotations through vastly different teams, I was able to experience the full gamut of roles and operational focuses. It helped me figure out where I wanted to land post-program, but it’s also opened my eyes to other teams I could move into down the track.

Graudate Stream

Graduates commence as permanent employees in one of four streams.

Regardless of the stream, you’ll complete a rotational program to learn about how the different parts of ASIS enable the success of our operations.

The types of rotations and training and development opportunities will depend on the graduate stream you choose.

After successfully completing the program, you’ll be offered a permanent placement in your specialised pathway.
